Sidiki Camara's workshops in Brussels

There was a workshop with Sidiki Camara the last weekend of March in Brussels. A real goody for the enthusiast of the West African percussions. Not only because he is one of the most influent djembefolas around and it is just interesting to share a word or two with him, but also because of his perfect didactic skills. He always explains well how the thing should sound like: he keeps the beat with jingles on his legs, plays the solo with his arms, corrects the dundun's mistakes and gives some explanations, all at once. Practically speaking, he gives clear indications suitted for "european" ears while explaining how and why you should try to understand it in the "african" way. I'd say he gives the student what the student needs.

He is actually considering of coming to Brussels on regular basis, which is great news as Brussels is more easily reachable than Oslo, where he's currently staying.
